Cathryn McConaghy, BA, Grad Dip Ed, MEd, PhD, FACE, LLB

Admitted as a Barrister in Queensland in January 2016; admitted as a Legal Practitioner in the NSW Supreme Court in July 2015.

Since being called to the Bar in January 2016, Cathryn has developed a generalist practise with a focus on Family Law. She has appeared in various jurisdictions including the Federal Circuit Court, Family Court, Supreme Court, Children’s Court and Industrial Relations Commission. Prior to becoming a barrister Cathryn held senior positions in Universities, including as Professor, Dean and Ombudsman. She enjoys applying her analytical and research skills to complex legal matters and is a keen advocate of social justice and equal rights. Cathryn has had extensive experience in complex negotiations and is always keen to assist parties to reach settlement. She is happy to accept legal aid briefs.
