
Clem van der Weegen
Clem was called to the Bar in November 2015 after practising as a solicitor in a private firm. Prior to that he worked as a teacher at Bribie Island State High School for five years. He was a member of the NSW Police Force for fourteen years including two years as a forensic crash investigator, and eight years as a police prosecutor including one year assisting the NSW State Coroner. He has also worked in a number of government departments at both State and Commonwealth level as an investigator into fraud and disciplinary matters.
His areas of practice are wide and include criminal, family, administrative, personal injury, equity and trusts, and coronial inquests.
He is an advocate for social justice and received the Australian Lawyers Alliance Civil Justice Award in 2019. In 2023 he commenced a successful stint at the employed bar working with ATSILS where he was appointed Regional Manager of their Hervey Bay office before returning to the private bar on 1 July 2026.
